3 Seriously Simple Scar Removal Home Remedies

3 Seriously Simple Scar Removal Home RemediesI wouldn’t say I’m accident prone, but I sure have a lot of scars.

In grade 8 I caught my left middle finger ring on the side of my school bus and it sliced my finger so deep, the scar is still evident to this day.

After a lovely Thanksgiving ravaged by Chicken Pox, I managed to come away with minimal scarring except for one noticeable bit on my right eyebrow.

Interested in swimming with the sharks? Don’t worry about them biting you, it was a trigger fish that took a chunk out of my foot and left me marred.

Again, I wouldn’t quite call this accident prone, just unfortunate.

I’ve never really cared about my scars because they were always fairly tiny. It wasn’t until I had surgery this past May that I realized how people could become so self-conscious about the marks on their body.

When you think about it, most flesh wounds we acquire heal quite well. When you walk into a tree and cut open your arm (yes, I did that. Yes, I saw the tree. No, I was not exactly sober!) the injured skin heals relatively scar-free because it wasn’t a clean slice.

Like putting pieces of a puzzle together, the skin just fits together and it heals naturally.

That being said, injuries like paper cuts, acne or clean slices from a surgeons scalpel, heal a bit differently. For instance, my surgical scarring though clean, is quite deep. Thanks to a minor post-surgical infection it is not healing as well as anticipated.

So what did this somewhat vain girl do? Home remedy that sh*t, duh!

Sabrina’s Top Scar Removal Home Remedies

I’m not one to create DIY’s that are too complicated because seriously, who has the time for that? Instead, I rely on minimal ingredient, top notch alternatives. Here are a few of my fave scar removal home remedies that have helped me heal my war wounds.

Tangy Treatment

There’s nothing quite like the nectar from fresh fruit and vegetables to help heal. For an easy, kitchen-ready remedy gather together:

  • 1 Lemon or 1 Tomato
  • Cotton balls

You can’t get much easier than this. Just squeeze the juice from your lemon or tomato directly onto a cotton ball. Apply this juice all over your scarred skin and let it soak in.

This method works best when applied at night and is fabulous for acne scars. Simply rinse it off in the morning and repeat regularly.

The citric acid in fruits and vegetables helps reduce redness associated with scarring and help remove the dead skin surrounding it. In time, you will see a significant reduction in the appearance of your scar.

Minimalist Magic

Not all scar removal home remedies require a boat load of ingredients. This one only uses 2 and works wonderfully. You need:

  • 3/4 cup Carrier Base – the two best transdermal ones are Sesame Oil or Aloe Vera
  • 5-10 drops Liquid DMAE (easily found on Amazon)

Two ingredients, 1 step; just mix ’em together.

If you’re wondering what the heck DMAE is, here’s a quick explanation. DMAE (Dimethylaminoethanol) is a natural amino acid that promotes healthy skin. Mixed with a transdermal base, you are repairing scarred skin at the root of the problem.

You will notice almost immediate changes in your scar and with regular use you can say sayonara to that scar all together!

Recommended Removal

For newly formed scars, this last home remedy might be best. Pull together:

  • 3 tablespoons Beeswax
  • 2 tablespoons Cocoa Butter
  • 1/2 tablespoon Grapeseed Oil
  • 1/2 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Vitamin E Oil

Double boil your beeswax and cocoa butter until the beeswax melts. Once melted add in your grapeseed and olive oil and give it a good mix. Gradually add in warm water and constantly whisk at the same time. As your cream turn thick, add in your vitamin E oil and give it one more strong stir.

You can use this cream anywhere on your body to prevent and reduce scarring. The grapeseed and olive oil help suck the scar-healing vitamin E oil deep into your skin while the beeswax and cocoa butter nourish your skin back to health.

You are absolutely going to love how smooth and scar-free your skin is after using these home remedies.

What I want to know is this; what kind of scar are you trying to treat? Have you used any other methods to reduce their appearance? If so, share in the comment section below!

  • For the “Recommended Removal” recipe, do you think that would work well as a stretch mark preventative if used daily during a pregnancy? Just wondering… Thanks for the great recipes :)
