Don’t you just wish you could sit back, relax and let your skin fight the signs of aging for you? There’s a device for that!
The company Trophy Skin has developed a LED anti aging device that allows you to lie back, close your eyes, shed years off your skin…and all from the comfort of your very own home.
What is RedMD?
RedMD is a LED anti aging panel that utilizes 4 wavelengths of high power LED light to penetrate the skin and reduce damage caused by overexposure to the sun and other signs of aging.
Red, yellow, amber and IR LED lights are used to target different layers of the skin and kick start collagen and elastin production. By targeting damage at the cellular level, the theory is that your outer most layer of skin will be renewed.
How Does It Work?
There are a few steps you need to take to reap the LED anti-aging benefits from this at-home device. The first is a precaution. To ensure you have no allergic or adverse reactions to the LED lamp, you are going to want to test treat your skin. The instruction manual suggests spot treating your arm.
Resting your arm 6 inches under the lamp, put on your goggles and wait 5-10 minutes. Once your timer dings, wait 4-6 hours to see how your skin reacts.
This may seem like a long time, but it’s better safe than sorry, especially when it comes to your face. If there were no noticeable side effects from the spot treatment, find yourself a nice spot to lie down and then prep your lamp for treatment.
Before lying down yourself, give your face and neck a quick rinse using a mild cleanser. You want to remove any makeup, dirt and grime before your session.
Now that you’re ready to go, put on your goggles, close your eyes, pull the light 4-6 inches from your face and then take a little nap. Be sure to set a timer though.
Each session should run between 15-30 minutes long. To see max results, it’s advised to use this machine 2-3 times per week. Once your timer has rung, switch off the lamp, remove goggles and slather on a potent anti-aging moisturizer.
You can use storebought, but obvs I prefer something a little more homemade like this: V’s homemade anti aging cream
How It Holds Up
I enlisted the help of my mom, Lynn, for this review. We test treated her arm, cleansed, waited, moisturized and repeated over the course of 4 weeks.
Lynn doesn’t like to mince words, so when I asked what she thought of the RedMD device, here’s the gist of what she said:
She really loved how portable and lightweight the RedMD was, but didn’t like having to wear goggles and still close her eyes. Safety first though, Lynn! She loved the warm (not hot) sensation of the lamp on her face, but disliked having to lie and do nothing for 30 minutes.
She’s a busy woman, after all!
She was elated when she started seeing her fine lines become even more fine, but wondered why the product didn’t come with its own post-treatment anti-aging moisturizer. To her, it seemed liked a missed sales opportunity.
On this final point, I must agree with my mom. It would have been even more convenient of a product had it come with a pre-wash cleanser and post-treatment serum. This way all bases would have been covered, but alas I guess we can’t have everything. Regardless, after just 4 weeks of treatment there was a noticeable difference in the lines around my mom’s eyes. With time, I’m sure this device will help iron a few more of them out.
Have you tried the RedMD or perhaps been to a dermatologist for a similar treatment? What was your experience like? Share your story below in the comment section.
