Organic Face Masks Straight From the Kitchen

The change in seasons can wreak havoc on your skin. With temperatures and humidity shifting your skin doesn’t know what to do and acts out with break outs.

Sometimes all you need to do is give it a little TLC and what better way to do this than have a DIY spa date!

Without further ado let me give you the recipe to three great DIY organic face masks that you can make with ingredients found right in your very own kitchen.

Organic Face Masks for Oily Skin

It’s time to raid those kitchen cupboards, ladies.

All you need is:

– 1 ripe banana (the riper, the better)
– 2 tbsp Organic Honey
– 1 orange or 1 lemon (your preference)

Mash up your banana with the honey and then add a few drops of juice from your orange or lemon. Apply mask to face and let sit for 15 minutes. Rinse your face with cool water or a steaming warm facecloth.

Why This Works

Bananas are great. They are full of tryptophan which is an amino acid that converts into serotonin, or what I like to call the “happy hormone.” They also contain a high level of iron and potassium. This combination of nutrients make bananas a great facial mask ingredient to help reduce inflammation and redness that results from oily skin.

Homemade Face Masks for Sensitive Skin

Sensitive skin can be frustrating. It’s temperamental and if you even slightly neglect it you are looking at breakouts and rashes. Gently love the life back into your skin with this next face mask.

You will need:

– 1 Cup of All natural Yogurt
– ½ Cup Oatmeal

Before you start, blend your oatmeal into a fine powder. Once done, mix in your yogurt and stir. Apply to your skin and let it sit for 15 minutes. Wash off with warm water.

Why This Works

Sensitive skin needs to be treated with ingredients that produce a calm or relaxing effect on the skin. Yogurt is rich in zinc which can soothe redness associate with sensitive skin. It is full of lactic acid which, in combination with the texture of the oatmeal can help exfoliate your skin and tighten your pores. Also, yogurt is a natural anti-fungal/anti-bacterial food so it helps tone your skin.

DY Face Masks for Combination Skin

Strawberries aren’t just for eating anymore. That’s right, they’re also great for helping your skin.

Gather together:

– 3 or 4 Organic Strawberries
– ¼ Cup Plain All-Natural Yogurt (chilled)

Mash together your strawberries and mix with your chilled yogurt. Apply in gentle circular motions to your face to stimulate exfoliation. To soothe any possible redness allow the mask to sit for 10minutes then wash off with warm water and pat your face dry.

Why This Works

As I mentioned before, yogurt has great soothing and healing properties. Mixed with the strawberries you have the perfect combination of natural exfoliates and calming properties to battle combination skin.
No matter what your skin type is, these quick and easy organic face masks will be the perfect way to take control of your skin and have you looking radiant in no time.
