Anti aging is again on our radar this week and today I’m going to share with you guys my Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream review.
Bit of a tongue-twister I know
I’ve already touched on what I believe to be the best luxury aging cream, that of course being LifeCell. You can check out the review here – http://besskincare.com/lifecell
Olay on the other hand promise their micro-sculpting cream has the ability to create the same results, but at a fraction of the cost.
Pretty big claim so let’s find out just how effective this cream really is!
How Does Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream Work?
I’m probably going to be throwing some pretty big words around here so stay with me!
This explanation comes directly from Olay - ”it features Olay’s highest concentration of amino–peptide complex infused with intracellular fortifier and a touch of precious marine proteins.”
Let me break this down for you.
Amino Peptide Complex
This again comes directly from Olay’s Website “Amino-peptides have demonstrated a remarkable anti-inflammatory effect deep within the skin’s surface that promotes anti aging properties, including tissue regeneration.”
But what exactly are they are how do they work?
Try to think of them as one of the building blocks of new skin cells. A NIH study concluded that one combination of amino acids(the one used in this cream) can be found in collagen. This chain or complex helps to signal cells to create more skin.
It’s almost like pressing a button and turning your skin on and getting it to produce more of itself.
In laymen terms this is just an ingredient that helps deliver the amino peptide complex deep into your skin. Olay uses palmitoyl a fatty acid to make this happen.
Without palmitoyl this cream would do absolutely nothing.
Precious Marine Proteins
Not much of an explanation is required here. These are basically like synthetic collagen that have the ability to react well in our skin. Collagen is the major building block of new skin, so more of it can result in more skin.
In a nutshell, Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream was designed to build more skin. Thicker skin can lead to a reverse in the aging process, creating thicker, firmer and more elastic layers. More skin reducers the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also reduces helps to prevents under eye circles, age spots and general irritation.
My Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream Review
Okay so I’m already testing out a bunch of different products and I didn’t want to upset my regular routine. Instead I had a friend(Sabrina) test out the product for a few weeks to see what kind of results we could get.
The preface this review, Sabrina just turned 36 and has started seeing minimal effects of aging including:
- Fine lines
- Under eye circles
After the first week of daily applications we couldn’t really see any change in the appearance of her lines and wrinkles. Her under eye circles did however start to fade ever so slightly.
This is when we started to see the best results. The crows feet around her eyes started to subside a little and her dark circles were clearly starting to fade.
This is where she’s at right now. The following is an approximation of the reduction in appearance of fine lines, wrinkles age spots, dark circles:
Fine Lines: 30% reduction
Deep Wrinkles: 20% reduction
Age Spots: 20% reduction
Under Eye Circles: 50% reduction(at least)
Honestly, getting results with this cream will take a lot of time. This is because the formula is designed to generate more skin and that obviously take time.
Sabrina’s going to keep up the treatment and see what kind of changes she can get after a couple of months.
From what I can tell, there’s not a lot of difference(in terms of results) between this micro-sculpting cream and Olay’s Night Cream which is also quite popular. Both tend to take a lot of time before results can be seen so don’t expect to be wrinkle free overnight!
Instead if it’s instant results you’re after, you might want to go for a product like LifeCell. The only major difference of course being the price as Olay’s products are a lot more affordable for the most of us.
The numbers mentioned above are by no means accurate, just a visual approximation from myself and Sabrina.
All in all, Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream does offer some aging benefits, but it takes A LOT of time!
Overall Score: 89%
