Scars come in all shapes and sizes. They can mark your face or body; they have no preference. The good news is however, the quicker you start to treat your scars, the more likely you will succeed in making them disappear.
Back in February, V shared a Quick and Easy Homemade Scar Treatment with you. It detailed the how, the why and of course, the quick fix so I won’t bore you with redundancy. Instead, I will regale you with a bevy of even more natural scar remedies so you too can have perfectly unmarred skin!
Calendula comes from the marigold flower. Its extracts contain anti-viral, anti-genotoxic and anti-inflammatory properties. It’s ability to soothe irritated skin and manipulate bleeding make it a great topical ingredient for fighting scarring.
Add calendula oil to your favourite nourishing cream. Make sure your cream is Vitamin E rich for best results then use 1 part calendula to 3 parts moisturizer. Rub your calendula cream onto your scar twice a day until your scar disappears.
This is best used on a new scar.
Sweet scented and seriously effective against scarring, straight lavender essential oil is my next secret.
This essential oil has antifungal and antiseptic properties. It promotes cell rejuvenation so it actively works to regenerate scar-free skin.
Apply lavender essential oil several times a day to treat your scar. It is effective on all types of scars and is one of the most potent natural scar remedies out there.
Rose and Helichrysum
This next trick is a combination of flower extracts. Mix together 2 tablespoons of Rosehip Seed Oil, 2 tablespoons of Rose Essential Oil and 2 tablespoons of Helichrysum Essential Oil in a small bottle.
These natural scar remedies is best used after a shower or bath when your skin is supple and your pores are open. Apply to your scar and massage in. This combination should reduce the puffy, red appearance of aged scars.
Store your concoction in a dark bottle and in a cool spot so it keeps.
Mustard Seed Oil
Distinctively pungent in both taste and aroma, this oil impressively reduces the appearance of scars.
When used in the first 2-3 months of getting a scar, this option works best. No matter how lumpy or swollen it is, used twice daily you should see results.
It works because the high fat content helps fill the scar tissue that otherwise leaves your skin looking dimpled and marred.
A Few More Tips
There are a few more things you can do to avoid deep tissue scarring of your skin.
This favourite trick will surely be one of yours as well; massaging!
Massaging the scarred area, softens the skin and wears away at hardened scar tissue. Using one of the oils or cream remedies listed above during the massage will definitely give even better results. If you get creative, you can make this a sexy little activity for you and your lover *wink wink*
A very important yet often ignored method for avoiding scarring, is to STOP PICKING AT IT! Sounds so simple, but most of us (myself include *hangs head in shame*) can’t resist the urge to pick at our scabs.
Picking at a scab only causes more scarring and deeper damage. Use vitamin E oil and a bandaid to heal and cover your scabs to stop you from causing more damage.
Alright ladies; take your pick! Don’t’ let ugly scars taint your beautiful skin. Follow my tips, tricks and implement one (or all!) of these natural scar remedies for smoother, clearer looking skin.
