Reduce Dark Circles Under Your Eyes The DIY Way

Written by 38 comments

Home remedies for dark circlesGirls, we know how annoying dark circles can be and no matter how hard you try to hide them, they always seem to show up in photos…GURRR!

That’s why instead of just masking the problem, we’re going to show you how to reduce dark circles naturally and easily so you don’t have to worry about looking tired ever again :-)

We’re going to reveal a couple of extremely easy home remedies for dark circles, which you can do yourself cheaply and easily.

BUT.

Before moving onto treatment methods, let’s talk about why dark circles appear in the fist place.

Here’s Why You Get Under Eye Dark Circles

Around our eyes and particularly right below them, we have A LOT of tiny blood vessels (capillaries). For some of us, these capillaries are extremely fragile and can be ruptured easily. When this happens blood spills out into the open, much the same as any regular bruise would look like.

Due to the fact that many of us only have a thin layer of skin below our eyes, the bruising from these burst capillaries shows up easily.

Therefore there are two ways of reducing the appearance of dark circles under our eyes:

  1. Create a thicker layer of skin by increasing collagen production.
  2. Strengthen the tiny capillaries under our eyes to help prevent them from bursting.

This is all you need to keep in mind when it comes to treating dark circles under your eyes.

I Go Into Much More Detail In This Video…

Our Favorite Home Remedies For Dark Circles

Okay some of these you may already know, but others we’re sure you haven’t tried yet starting with…

1. Lemons!

Lemons for dark circlesEvery morning before you eat anything, try squeezing a fresh lemon into 8oz of water and down that sucker! Lemons are amazing at helping the liver to remove those evil toxins from our body.

Because these toxins are carried around in our blood, they have the ability to, yes that’s right, rupture fine blood vessels(just like the ones found under our eyes).

Keeping our liver healthy, allows it to more easily remove these hateful toxins from our bodies, reducing the chances of them rupturing our smallest of blood vessels.

2. Tea Bags

Green tea for dark circlesThis one’s pretty simple, but highly effective. Soak 2 teabags under warm water before ringing them out so that they are damp but not dripping wet.

Place one over each eye and lie down on your back for 30 minutes. Again doing this first thing in the morning will allow for the best results, but if that’s not possible for you, 20 minutes before bed should be fine.

There’s only one rule you need to stick to when doing this and that is to use green tea. Try and find tea with the highest level of caffeine possible for best results.

3. Honey & Orange

Honey and orange for dark circlesMix together honey, orange juice and some flour until you have a mixture that is thick and smooth(not sticky). You don’t need much, just enough to apply under both of your eyes. Throw the mixture into the fridge for 30 minutes to cool it down.

Once you’re ready, apply it below your eyes for 15-20 minutes for maximum results. This is something you can easily do in the morning before work and trust us, every time you look in the mirror throughout the day, you’ll be happy with what you see :-)
