BES’ers, I’m pretty freakin’ excited about this one! Why? Because this is my first post for the fellas! Holla!
Recently, I have been receiving a few messages from the boys of BES asking if we only write for chicks.
My answer? Yes.
But I’m open to change. After all, boys need a lil’ DIY TLC too.
So, to kick things off I’m gonna teach the gents out there how to make your own shaving cream that’s healthier, and more gentle on your skin, because from what I hear, constantly shaving your face can leave it feeling a liiiittle irritated.
But I’m going to try and do this in a dude’s voice. You know, so the boys feel more comfortable around these parts.
*clears throat and lowers voice* Okay, here we go…
Homemade Shaving Cream
Yo, before you do anything you’re gonna have to hit up one of those natural food stores that sell all-natural foods and sh*t and grab yourself:
- Almond or Coconut oil – I really like this Coconut Oil
- Cocoa butter – try this one if you can’t find it in stores
- Pure Honey
- Baking soda
- Liquid Castille soap – I’ve used this before
- Vitamin E
Then on your way home, stop by the beer store and grab a 6 pack, because you’re dudes and that’s what you do.
Once you get home, crack a beer, and search your kitchen for a double boiler (aka a pot inside another pot).
Then turn your stove onto medium heat and melt 3 tablespoons of your cocoa butter. Take off the heat as soon as it melts and stir in:
- 1/4 cup of Almond (or Coconut) oil
- 1/4 cup of pure Honey
- 2 teaspoons of Baking soda
- 1/4 cup liquid Castille soap
- 1 tablespoon of white cosmetic clay
Stir the crap out of it for several minutes and then pour into a glass jar to store.
Now, it’s possible that as your mixture starts to cool it may start to separate, if it does just give it a shake. And that’s that.
Quick, easy, and good for your skin. That’s how we do manpering.
Now of course, I ain’t just gonna leave the ladies hangin’!
Here’s a quick trick to make your own foaming shave soap that’s better for your skin than most store-bought shaving creams.
All you need is:
- 1/4 cup of natural Aloe Vera gel
- 1/4 cup liquid Castille soap
- 1 tablespoon of Olive oil
- 1/4 cup of warm water
- a few drops of Vitamin E extract
- a few drops of your favourite essential oil
- a large (clean) foaming soap bottle
Mix all your ingredients into your soap bottle and shake well until properly mixed. Then just pump, shave, and enjoy!
It’s all about quick DIYs today ladies and gents, but I’m sure these aren’t the only natural shaving cream recipes out there.
So if you have any DIY tips on how to make your own shaving cream please share them below!
