Not too long ago V helped you fight against pesky under eye circles by delivering some seriously effective DIY tricks and educating you on the causes.
In between then and now, I realized that sometimes there’s just nothing you can do to stop those dark circles from making an appearance.
Rather than be a slave to your home and hide your tired eyes from the public, I’m going to show you how to conceal dark circles effectively and of course, throw in a few more tricks because that’s how I roll!
I Choo-Choo-Choose this Concealer
When searching for the perfect under eye concealer, you are going to want to look for something with a slightly warmer shade than your natural skin tone.
Test it out by swiping a few options underneath your eye. The one right for you will disappear into your skin.
Generally speaking, concealers found in pots versus sticks or wands give better coverage.
Apply On the Dotted Line
Grab your fave makeup brush and dip it into your concealer. Using small dots, blend into your dark areas only.
Using a brush usually prevents over-application which would ultimately make you look like a cake-face!
Feel free to sweep some concealer over your eye lids and the inner corner of your eye. This will only help you little peepers stand out that much more.
Shade the Sh*t Outta It
Swap out your concealer brush for a smaller eye shadow brush. Use this to sweep translucent powder underneath your eyes to create a brighter look and help set the concealer.
Top this look off with a nice dark lid liner that hugs your upper lash line and of course, mascara.
Not only will your eyes look bigger, brighter and more awake, but there won’t be any under eye circles anymore!
Pesky Circle Prevention
I don’t want to take away from my savvy concealer lesson, but there is something to be said about reducing your chances and preventing future under eye circles, so stay with me here.
Some things like allergies, PMS and genetics you have no control over and these all aid in under eye circle development.
There are things you can control though; getting enough sleep, eating right, learning to relax and never smoking.
Did you know that keeping your nasal passages clear can reduce ugly circles? Yep, and you can do it from home with this Simple Saline Solution:
- Add ¼ teaspoon of salt and a teaspoon of baking soda to two cups of water.
- Tilt your head back and use a squeeze bottle to pour the solution through one nostril.
- The solution should come right out the other nostril.
This may not be the sexiest solution, but it sure works!
Another great DIY trick is making a Potato Paste:
- In a liquidizer, liquidize one raw potato.
- Close your eyes and place the puree over your entire eye area.
- No peeking or you’ll get a peeper full of potato. Yuck!
- Keep it there for 30 minutes then rinse off with warm water.
The juice in potatoes naturally lightens your skin while also reducing inflammation. Now that’s a double win!
