Why You Need to be Drinking Lemon Water Everday

It just dawned on me that after years of going on and on about the importance of starting off your morning with warm lemon water, I’ve never written about it.

So, to rectify that issue I’m finally putting fingers to keyboard.

First of all I want to share with you why I started drinking lemon water in the morning to begin with. I was going through a particularly rough patch with my skin. It was blotchy, dull, and kept getting spots in the weirdest places. After tracking my food and water consumption for a few days it became clear that A – I wasn’t drinking enough water and B – my choice in foods may have been partly to blame.

Combined together these two factors were leaving me looking, well, bleckkkk.

I had grazed through an article spouting out the benefits of drinking lemon water so I decided to give it a go. Each morning I would boil the kettle and squeeze half a fresh lemon into it once it had cooled off a bit. After just 3 days I felt a noticeable difference in my stomach and my skin started to brighten up. Happy with the results I kept doing it and the rest is history.

So, what is t about lemon water that’s so damn good? Let’s break it down y’all.

10 Reasons You Should Drink Lemon Water EVERYDAY

Lemons are packed to the brim with lots of good nutrients, including vitamin C, B-complex vitamins, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, and fiber. Thanks to all that goodness they contribute to:

1. Reducing inflammation

Regularly drinking lemon water reduces your body’s acidity level, which is helpful for fending off disease. It also reduces the level of uric acid in your joints, which is one of the leading causes of inflammation.

2. Better Digestion

The toxins in your digestive tract don’t stand a chance with daily lemon water consumption. It also helps burping, bloating, heartburn and all those other nasty symptoms of poor digestion.

3. Weight Loss

Thanks to the fiber in lemons, this morning treat can help you shed a few pounds by fighting hunger cravings.

4. Flushing Your System

Your digestive tract isn’t the only area benefiting from a flushing of toxins. Lemon water also enhances enzyme function, which n turn, helps stimulate your liver.

5. Clear Skin

Lemons have plenty of antioxidants which are great for keeping your skin spot-free, but also wrinkle-free. When applied topically to age spots or scars it can help reduce their appearance naturally. Also, it help detoxify your blood so you maintain a radiant glow all day long.

6. Improved Immune System

Vitamin C is known for boosting your immune system and warding off illness, and lemons are full of it. This makes lemon water a great way to ease your immune system on a daily basis and keep healthy.

7. Fresh Breath

This works two fold; One – dry mouth can cause bad breath so wetting your mouth with lemon water obvs keeps it wet…thus no bad breath.

Two – the acid in lemons breaks down bacteria that causes stank mouth. It also happens to relieve toothaches and gingivitis. Winnnning.

8. Higher Energy Levels

When lemon water hits your digestive tract it gives your body a boost of energy to help you kickstart your day without a cup of java. It’s also known for reducing stress on your nervous system which can help reduce the symptoms of depression and anxiety.

9. Reduced Caffeine Intake

Look, having a coffee every now and again is fine, but if you’re living off a pot a day like I was, then lemon water is a great tool to help you reduce your intake. It keeps you refreshed without the low.

10. Better Heart  Health

Thanks to the high level of potassium in lemons, drinking lemon water can improve your heart health as well as brain and nerve functioning.

  • I will start drinking lemon water each morning! I’m not a coffee or tea drinker, so I’m not crazy about hot drinks. Can this work as well in cold water or maybe room temp water? I’ve fought with skin problems most of my adul life, so I’d love to see any improvement!
Thank you for your help! Jim

  • It’s better if the water is warmer. Doesn’t have to be freshly boiled water, but definitely a bit warmer than room temp!

  • The best!
