Over the course of your life, your skin is going to stretch. Whether it’s from growth during puberty or baking a sweet little bun in the oven, to weight gain and loss, it happens. C’est la vie. Not much we can do about it.
For many people, when their skin stretches it is also accompanied by a few marks. Nothing like a stretch mark to remind yourself how much your body has change.
While you may not be able to prevent the stretching, what you can do is give your skin a fighting chance at avoiding and repairing marks.
How, you may ask? A simple DIY stretch mark serum, of course!
The Ultimate DIY Stretch Mark Serum
There’s nothing quite as hydrating and skintastic as a natural and homemade recipe. This stretch mark serum is the perfect spray for everyone, even pregnant mamas. It’s easy to make and works like a charm.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 2 tbsp Rosehip seed oil
- 2 tbsp Jojoba oil
- 2 tbsp Vitamin E oil
- 10 drops Neroli oil
- 7 drops Lavender essential oil
- 5 drops Lemon essential oil
To make, all you have to do is mix all ingredients in a little glass spray bottle, shake it like crazy and then spritz over your skin and let it soak in the goodness.
Yep, it’s that easy!
**Tip – avoid plastic bottles as some of the oils may react with plastic. Dark, glass containers are best.
Why It Works
Rosehip seed oil is one of the main active ingredients in this spray. It is so important because it helps heal and lighten stretch marks and scarring. It is also incredibly moisturizing and a great carrier oil.
Containing natural trans-retinoic acids, it also helps firm your skin and maintain your skin’s elasticity.
Jojoba oil is one of my faves. I started using it when I found that coconut oil wasn’t soaking into my skin well and causing it to break out. Jojoba oil on the other hand, absorbs super fast. It is full of vitamins and minerals essential to good skin, and mimics the effects of collagen.
Vitamin E oil is a preventive ingredient as it encourages your skins elasticity. If your skin is more elastic, it is able to stretch more easily and rebound to its natural state. Vitamin E is also full of anti-aging and regenerative properties making it an all around awesome ingredient.
Neroli oil helps prevent the appearance of stretch marks by stimulating circulation and encouraging cell regeneration.
Lavender oil not only smells great, but also heals cracked, dry skin.
Lemon oil, which also smells great, helps lighten current scars and stretch marks.
Not only does this DIY stretch mark serum smell great and work wonders, but it is 100% natural and safe to use. If you want to proactively fight against stretch marks while pregnant you can rest easy that this formula is safe for you and your wee one.
